Stokolos, Margarita Dmitrievna

Abstract

The article considers internal and external factors that influence the collapse of the USSR. The point of view on the indicative nature of the actions undertaken by M.S. Gorbachev in preserving the integrity of the USSR is analyzed. It is stated that Gorbachevs obsequious policy formed the basis of the domestic and foreign policy of post-Soviet Russia, since following Western values imposed from the outside was of priority importance in building an independent state, which ultimately led to disastrous consequences.

Keywords: perestroika, socialism, Gorbachevs doctrine, sovereignty, elections, NATO, referendum.
