This article examines the possibilities and limitations of using virtual reality (VR) technologies to develop social cognition skills in adolescents with mental health disorders, specifically Tourette syndrome. It analyzes the structure of social cognition - including emotion recognition, social perception, attributional style, and mentalization - and the nature of impairments in these areas among adolescents with Tourette syndrome, while accounting for comorbid conditions. The article presents a classification of contemporary computerized social cognition training programs, including those based on virtual reality, adapted for an adolescent audience. It reviews findings from empirical studies on the efficacy of such training, noting inconsistencies in the reported outcomes. The primary advantages (individualization, increased motivation, accessibility, and the creation of a safe environment for practicing skills) and limitations of using virtual reality in therapeutic or remedial work are outlined. Finally, the article suggests directions for future research, such as the development of age-appropriate hybrid models and the refinement of criteria for using virtual environments for various forms of tic disorders in adolescents.
